About Me

I finished my creative degree in 2015, and then spent a couple of years deciding which road I wanted to take, and how I wanted to peruse a creative career. I started Daisy Allen Art in 2019, after a friend of a friend asked me to draw their dog. At the time, I’d only done celebrity renditions with my pencils, and I remember being asked to draw this dog, and being absolutely terrified, as I’d never drawn an animal before! Now, five years on, I can’t think of a better way to spend my day than relaxing at my desk, and getting lost in a drawing.

I try to be very open with my practise, as I will draw pretty much anything, from humans and pets, to objects and buildings. Even though I am a realism artist, I enjoy breathing realism into unrealistic things; creatures that aren’t real, or putting people together who’ve never met. There’s something very special about drawing a connection, and creating something so valuable with pencils.

I am currently a member of The Association of Animal Artists, and an admin of The UK Colour Pencil Society. I find these groups a great way to meet other artists, learn new techniques, and I’ve even won some internal competitions and had my work exhibited around the country.

I am a big pet lover, so I love it when I get pet commissions come in. I have two dogs, who I couldn’t leave out so are pictured. The dog on the left is a Belgian Malinois called Nemesis, who we’ve had since a pup. On right is Gizmo, who’s a staffy cross, who I rescued in 2022.

I currently live in East Riding in England with my partner and dogs, and if there’s anything else you’d like to know, feel free to get in touch.
